This weekends big adventure for The Hightower Team was to conquer Torreys Peak via Kelso Ridge. This climb was in honor of when Ron Snow and Colonel Hightower first met 8 years ago on this exact ridge. As the story goes Ron Snow caught site of Colonel Hightower heading up this gnarly ridge dripping in sweat, wearing a cut off t-shirt and an old air force survival vest. As Ron watched Colonel Hightower get closer he thought to himself “who the heck is this guy”? As Colonel Hightower approached the 2 started talking and heading up the ridge together. As Ron put it, he felt as though he had known Colonel Hightower for 20 years. This meeting forged a life long friendship between the 2 and they are still climbing stong today! This was not the first summit on Torreys for any of us, as a matter of fact we have all been up here through different approaches several times, but this climb was by far the best! We had a fine outing on Saturday, the weather was great and the company was even better.
